Apologies for jumping on this pretty late, but SoD almost universally ignores auto racing (with the exception of Sgt. Zim, whose special interlock device forces him to make left turns only). To our surprise, an interesting story bubbled out of the “sport” over the weekend, when apparent Bad Boy Kyle Busch tried to destroy the apparently famed Nashville Superspeedway trophy minutes after winning it. The trophy turns out to be a Gibson Les Paul specially painted by artist Sam Bass.
Several of us at SoD love our guitars, and could have offered this dickhead some helpful advice. For example, you are not going to succeed at shattering this guitar – it’s not a damn Epiphone. The best you will do is take a chunk out after a few swings, and look dumb doing it. Further, a painted guitar has the same artistic value as it would if it were a canvas. Are you going to stick yr dick through an oil painting for “rock star effect?” Not in public, thank you.
Apparently there is some schism between “Old School” NASCAR fans and “new school” ones and Kyle Busch’s antics resonate with the latter. Even if you are the Happy Gilmore of racecars, please do us a favor Kyle and stop destroying our national treasures. I’m talking about the Gibson, not Sam Bass.
unfortunately, “new school” NASCAR fans are even more brainless than the old school. many more gibsons will be shattered in the name of “hey look that was kinda cool in a non theatening and overdone way!”
