Those NFL Live United commercials have gotten to the point where I want to punch a hole through my TV each time they are on. I get it – Drew Brees, Santana Moss, Eli Manning, Adrian Peterson, Bob Sanders (did I miss any?) all do community service – but the same damn commercials have been playing for what seems like 2 years, lets cook up some new ones.
- Former Suns Guard Yuta Tabuse Seeking Return to NBA – Steve Nash wasn’t the only point guard to debut with the Suns in ’04-05- you may remember this guy:
ESPN is reporting that Tabuse is leaving the Japanese national team to take a spot on the Mavericks summer league team. Tabuse played 4 games with the Suns at the beginning of the ’04-05 season and was released in December of 2004. To my absolute delight Tabuse is referred to as the “Michael Jordan of Japan.” The guy is 5 foot 9, and if you watch the clip below shoots like he’s straight out of the cast of Hoosiers – so I’d say the only possible reason he could be compared to MJ is that perhaps he was also a shitty baseball player with a crippling gambling addiction that starred in a movie with the Looney Tunes?
Seriously though – enjoy this clip. I’m now convinced that the writers here at SoD could play in a Japanese professional league (which brings us to 2 professional leagues because as we all know – Sean Marks sucks…also Creed).
- Amare 50-50 on Suns return – I like Amare, I really do. I think he’s one of the top offensive talents in the NBA and should be a franchise player – but can he please please please just shut-up? On the same day he told different media outlets that he was “pretty sure” he’d be in Phoenix next year in addition to his little 50-50 crack. My favorite quote though:
Whatever team I go to, I hope they’re ready for a championship run.
Man I wish that were true. Maybe just maybe if Amare would actually take some accountability for getting better, playing a little defense (just help side D would be enough), and actually wearing goggles when suggested to avoid season ending injuries – I’d actually buy that a team he plays on could make a championship run. Until then I’ll just continue to be a huge Amare apologist and tell people he should be the best power forward in the league (instead of secretly wishing we’d traded him for KG two summers ago).
- Jose Canseco loses MMA debut in 77 seconds – how priceless is watching Jose Canseco run around a ring in black stretch pants while getting his ass kicked by a 7 foot 2 Korean?
Hilarious right? Anyone want to pool some money together and have Jose serve drinks at a cocktail party? How about we just hire him to play Mario Kart with us? The options are limitless and we know he needs the money so we’ve got the leverage. I look forward to hearing more ideas.
- Maurice Clarett Wants To Play in the NFL – earlier this week former Ohio State running back and current prison inmate Maurice Clarett used his blog (seriously check it out – it’s great fun) to announce that he wanted to play in the NFL after his time in prison. Clarett should probably be released in time for the 2010 season but – good freaking luck. I want to tell a joke here but if Clarett can just get out of prison and turn his life around I’ll feel pretty damn good about that. Best of luck to him. That was almost heart-warming wasn’t it? But don’t despair friends – he’s sure to fail – and it’ll be epic.
