Celtics 92 Magicians 88: Boston managed to rally from a 14 point 4th quarter deficit to win the crucial Game 5 of this Eastern Conference 2nd Round series. Naturally the catalyst was Ray Allen Paul Pierce Rajon Rondo Big Baby Davis Danny Ainge Red Auerbach Air Bud Stephon freaking Marbury?!? The exhumed corpse of Starbury scored 12 points, all in the 4th quarter to lead the Celtics by the Magic. I’m trying to think of a list of players who were more likely to take over a 2nd Round playoff game than Starbury. I came up with Stacey Augmon and Dolph Schayes. That’s right, I would have been less surprised had 80-year old Dolph Schayes came back and taken over Game 5 than I was when Starbury did. Orlando has now gone from up 2-1 in the series to down 3-2 by choking away a pair of games. I’d imagine that they will be reeling in Game 6 and would be surprised if they can find a way to keep this series alive.
J.J. watch: Redick struggled again, shooting 1 for 6 and scoring just 3 points in 29 minutes. That makes J.J. 3 for 18 in his last 3 games. I suppose the dream of Suns superstardom is dead. Sorry Dr. Greenbaumberg.
Lakers 118 Rockets 78 : The Lakers apparently took all the criticism over the last few days since their surprising Game 4 loss to heart as they laid waste to the undermanned Rockets. Unfortunately, the hilarious hyperbole about how the Rockets could win this series and the Lakers were chokers will likely end. How a team starting Chuck Hayes at center was supposed to make the conference finals, I’ll never know. This game was a complete blowout from jumpstreet and the Lakers won by 40. Former league MVP Kobe Bryant scored 26 points in just three quarters of play to lead LA. I just…there’s nothing more to say about this game. It was a beating. So, to occupy the rest of this post, I’ll throw in these clips of the championship game from Teen Wolf. Enjoy!
Few questions (not rhetorical, feel free to answer):
- Why is Chubbs so cavalier about his hook shot at the 3:07 mark?
- How underrated are the contributions of the Beavers #45?
- Why does Michael J. Fox spend so much time jumping on his fellow players?
The Mavs-Nuggets Game 5 street-fight is tomorrow. I wonder what slurs K-Mart will come up with to shout at Mark Cuban this time!
Stay classy Kenyon.
