Cavs 84 Hawks 74: I covered this one fairly thoroughly in my running diary. Basically it was a snooze-fest and the Cavs prevailed to finish off the sweep. Cleveland doesn’t play again until May 20th. I’d say the long lay-off might affect them but they are by far the class of the Eastern Conference and likely of the NBA. Through 2 rounds and 8 playoff blowouts, the King’s coronation seems assured.
Mavericks 119 Nuggets 117: Dallas does their best Bee Gees impression to force a Game 5. If the Mavs could have gotten the foul on Carmelo Anthony at the end of Game 3 this one would be tied right now. However, I’m just happy there is going to be one more game so we can continue to hear stories about a 50 year-old billionaire calling the mother of an NBA player a “thug.” This is the true, hard-hitting analysis that we need. Dallas trailed for the balance of this game but Dirk came through with 19 of his 44 points in the fourth, including the go-ahead jumper to spur the Mavs to their first victory in this series. They’ll probably lose Game 5 but you’ve got to hand it to them for recovering from the crushing Game 3 defeat to claim at least one game.
Game 5 of both Celtics-Magicians and Lakers-Rockets tonight. Winner of these games should probably win the series. I like the Lakers and Magic, then again I also picked the Romulans (-4) in the new Star Trek movie.
