Couldn’t get enough eh? Well you’re always welcome to come in for another dose of NBA Nightcap…
Nuggets 106 Mavericks 105 – In spite of Dallas’ best efforts to make this series competitive, Carmelo Anthony hit a 3 pointer with 1 second remaining to give Denver a 3-0 series lead. Dallas managed to lose a 105-101 lead with 31 seconds left as Anthony made a quick basket, Kaiser Wilhelm II Dirk Nowitzki missed a jumper, then Anthony hit his game-winning three. Although Denver is 7-1 this post-season and on the verge of their first Western Conference Finals since 1985, I still think they aren’t THAT good. Not that my opinion matters (but it does since it’s both right and our blog) but I think their run to the conference finals is based more upon the fact that the Hornets packed it in like a high school senior in May and the Mavericks only made the 2nd round because the Argentenian Satan Manu Ginobili was out with injury than the fact that they are an actual threat to make the NBA Finals. Provided they finish off the Mavs, the Lakers should make quick work of the Nuggets.
Cavaliers 97 Hawks 82 – It all started so innocently, Atlanta was (GASP) within 1 point of the Cavs at half, and looked to have at least some chance of stealing a game in this series. Unfortunately for the Hawks, LeBron James started acting all Lebron James-like in the 2nd half. James scored 25 of his 47 points in the half to help continue Cleveland’s beach party romp through the 2009 playoffs, and the Cavs took a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. Even though Joe Johnson played in Game 3, the Hawks still didn’t have enough to compete. In addition to his 47 points, LeBron pulled down 12 rebounds and 8 assists. The only other player to put up a 45-10-8 in the playoffs? Space Jam star Michael Jordan. If LeBron can keep up his current pace for about another month or so he and MJ will have another thing in common….some fancy bling (I think they give it to you for winning some sort of championship). How the Hawks Were Humiliatingly Swept, or “Game 4” as some people will call it, is Monday, and in the Louie Renown spirit I’ll be providing a running diary.
Lakers-Rockets and Celtics-Magic get together for their Game 4’s tomorrow. Best of luck to the Rockets without Yao Ming, if I were them I’d just quit, go to the beach and enjoy a few mai-tai’s. Predictions: Lakers win and the Magicians push the Celtics to the brink of elimination.
