Brandon Webb canceled his bullpen session due to “arm stiffness” and is likely to miss more time. Webb, who has only
started one game this season, hasn’t appeared since his April 6th start against the Rockies. What are the odds that this DOESN’T end with Webb coming back for a few uninspired starts in mid-May, followed by the announcement that the D-Backs, who at the time are roughly 9 games back of 2nd place, are shutting him down for the season? I’ll give you 10:1 odds. Takers? Either way this sucks, but it isn’t like it matters anyway: the D-Backs have managed to post a grand total of THREE runs in Dan Haren’s 4 starts this season. This has resulted in Haren going 1-3 despite a 1.89 ERA. If this keeps up you’ve got to wonder if Haren is going to develop some “arm stiffness” himself.
