Thursday, the Carolina Panthers signed Jake Delhomme to a five-year, $42.5 million dollar extension, $20 million of which is guaranteed. No, really they did. This seems roughly as ill-advised as the combination decision of making a Meatballs 4 and choosing Corey Feldman to star in it. Not only did Delhomme have a pedestrian 15-12 TD/INT ratio last year, Carolina is a predominately run-based team. Oh and don’t forget that Delhomme is 34 years old, just over a year removed from rotator cuff surgery, and turned the ball over SIX TIMES against the Cardinals in the playoffs. With that I suggest that Carolina management view the following video:
5 years at $42.5 million with $20 million guaranteed still make sense? Yikes.
